Book Exchange

cloverdew: (what is reading)
(This didn't really work out the last time I tried it, but I'd like to try it again, since I am obsessed with books and reading and always have too many and yet not enough. So... let's give it a second chance!)

Since a lot of my friends are readers and since I am doing the [livejournal.com profile] 50bookchallenge this year, I propose that my friends and I do a book exchange. We can do a little reader/nerdy friending meme here on my journal and exchange addresses and then ship each other books via post or exchange in person. I think it's a fantastic idea. Who's with me? (Also, feel free to pimp to your friends!)

When we clean out the closets this week, remind me, and I'll take out my huge boxes of books for you to look through. :)

Also, I hope we can find some more Kathy Reichs books!

Sweet. I've heard good things about Diana Gabaldon, but never read anything by her. Where's a good place to start? Would you send me one?

Also, what's the Young Wizards series? That sounds promising.

I think I have a copy of Outlander I could send. I'll see about getting one in paperback if I can.

The Young Wizards Series is fantastic. It starts with So You Want to Be a Wizard, and goes from there. I loved them because it incorporates science elements, spriritual elements, and just good solid worldbuilding. I cried more reading those stories, and their buildup to eventual deaths, than any of the deaths in HP.

Diane Duane has a website for it, as does Diana Gabaldon. Should check them out!

(icon is a random reference to Young Wizards, heh)

Hmm. Let me see what I can dig up. Today and tomorrow there's a book sale on campus (I think), so I might be able to get something then.

Haven't finished the app yet, but I wanted to check before I got too attached - has anyone applied for Lavender Brown at post-bellum? I don't want to put everything together if she's already taken!

Nope. We haven't started advertising for the community yet and we're not officially taking applications until Monday, but you're more than welcome to send one in!

Check your mailbox - it's there! Let me know if there's anything to adjust, I just finished my reread of DH so some of it's a bit murky.

I'll try to log on YM more so we can plot and plan soon :)
